FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions About Electrolysis
1. What is electrolysis?
Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal method that uses a tiny probe and a mild electrical current to destroy the hair follicle, preventing future hair growth. It’s safe, effective, and works on all skin and hair types.
2. Does electrolysis hurt?
Some clients experience mild discomfort during treatment, similar to a slight pinching or tingling sensation. Pain levels vary from person to person, but many find the treatment tolerable. Numbing creams are available if needed.
3. How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on factors like: the area being treated, hair density & coarseness, stage of hair growth, and how often you’re coming. Typically, multiple sessions are required to target all hair follicles during their growth phase.
4. Is electrolysis permanent?
Yes, electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal. Once the hair follicle is destroyed, it will no longer grow hair.
5. How should I prepare for my electrolysis session?
Avoid shaving or plucking the area before your treatment, as it’s important for the hair to be in the follicle for electrolysis to be effective. You may also want to avoid sun exposure, tanning and retinol creams, before your session.
6. Can electrolysis treat all hair types?
Yes! Electrolysis is effective on all hair colors and types, as well as all skin tones, making it a versatile option for permanent hair removal.
7. How long will each session take?
Session times vary depending on the treatment area. Small areas like the upper lip may take 15-20 minutes, while larger areas like the legs or back may require longer sessions.
8. Will I see results right away?
Since hair grows in cycles, electrolysis takes time to show full results. You’ll begin to notice gradual hair reduction after a few sessions, and over time, hair will become finer and eventually stop growing altogether.
9. Is electrolysis safe?
Yes, electrolysis is a safe and FDA-approved method for permanent hair removal.
10. Contraindications: Pregnancy, Epilepsy, Neurological disorders, Diabetes, and Pacemakers.
